Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) Blood Pressure Medication is an angiotensin II receptor blocker used to treat high blood pressure. Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. AVAPRO and Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) can be taken with or without meals. AVAPRO provides starting dose efficacy regardless of age, race, or gender (the blood pressure effect was somewhat less in blacks (usually a low-renin population). The switch from AVAPRO monotherapy to Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) 150/12.5 mg resulted in the largest increment in blood pressure reduction. Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) 300/12.5 mg and 300/25 mg QD result in additional BP reductions). Overall blood pressure response with Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) was similar in black and non-black patients (black patients had a larger response to HCTZ than non-black patients, and a smaller response to irbesartan). Avalide (Irbesartan/HCTZ) requires no dosage adjustment in elderly patients.
