Losartan/HCTZ is an angiotensin II antagonist and thiazide diuretic combination used to treat high blood pressure. Losartan/HCTZ may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. Losartan/HCTZ is not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min) or as a means of titration for patients with hepatic impairment. In patients who are volume-depleted (eg, those treated with diuretics), symptomatic hypotension may occur after initiation of therapy with Losartan/HCTZ . This condition should be corrected prior to administration of Losartan/HCTZ .

Losartan/HCTZ side effects, that may go away during treatment, include dizziness or lightheadedness especially when sitting up or standing, nausea, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. If Losartan/HCTZ side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience Losartan/HCTZ side effects like rash or itching, muscle pain or cramps, vomiting, restlessness, dry mouth, unusual thirst, unusual tiredness or weakness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, or drowsiness.
