Losartan/HCTZ is an angiotensin II antagonist and thiazide diuretic combination used to treat high blood pressure. Losartan/HCTZ may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Losartan/HCTZ is not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min) or as a means of titration for patients with hepatic impairment. In patients who are volume-depleted (eg, those treated with diuretics), symptomatic hypotension may occur after initiation of therapy with Losartan/HCTZ . This condition should be corrected prior to administration of Losartan/HCTZ .
Losartan/HCTZ side effects, that may go away during treatment, include dizziness or lightheadedness especially when sitting up or standing, nausea, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. If Losartan/HCTZ side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience Losartan/HCTZ side effects like rash or itching, muscle pain or cramps, vomiting, restlessness, dry mouth, unusual thirst, unusual tiredness or weakness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, or drowsiness. If you notice other Losartan/HCTZ side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
