Zofran (Ondansetron),Zofran ODT (Ondansetron), and Zofran (Ondansetron) Oral Solution are indicated for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), cancer chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), and radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (RINV). Zofran (Ondansetron),Zofran ODT (Ondansetron), and Zofran (Ondansetron) Oral Solution can be used for prevention of post-operative nausea and vommiting associated with highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, with initial and repeat courses of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. Only oral Zofran (Ondansetron) is indicated for days 2 and 3 following moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy. Zofran (Ondansetron),Zofran ODT (Ondansetron), and Zofran (Ondansetron) Oral Solution can be used for prevention of post-operative nausea and vommiting associated with radiotherapy in patients receiving either total body irradiation, single high-dose fraction to the abdomen, or daily fractions to the abdomen, in patients with high risk of PONV; as with other antiemetics, routine prophylaxis is not recommended for patients in whom there is little expectation that nausea and/or vomiting will occur postoperatively. In patients where nausea and/or vomiting must be avoided postoperatively, Zofran (Ondansetron) Injection,Zofran (Ondansetron) Tablets, Zofran ODT (Ondansetron) Oral Solution are recommended even where the incidence of postoperative nausea and/or vomiting is low.
For patients who do not receive prophylactic Zofran (Ondansetron) Injection and experience nausea and/or vomiting postoperatively,Zofran (Ondansetron) Injection may be given to prevent further episodes.
