PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox) is an antifungal agent used to treat fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails in patients with a normal immune system (immunocompetent). PENLAC 8% may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
A SIDE EFFECT that may occur while using PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox) is mild redness of the surrounding skin. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience increased redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling, or oozing of the treated area. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS for PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox) to work. Do not stop using PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox) without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS while you are using PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox). DO NOT USE nail polish or other nail products unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. AVOID GETTING PENLAC 8% (Ciclopirox) IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
