Aprepitant is a prescription medication which is used in adults to prevent nausea and vomiting. Aprepitant is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy treatment and/or surgery, however it is not used to treat nausea and vomiting once it has already started.
Taking Aprepitant can cause serious or life threatening problems if you take the following medications: Orap, Seldane, Hismanal, and Propulsid. You should notify your physician if you are taking any of these medications.
In patients taking Aprepitant to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, the most common side effects are tiredness, nausea, hiccups, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, and hair loss. In patients taking Aprepitant to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by surgery, the most common side effects are constipation, nausea, itch, fever, low blood pressure, and headache. If you notice any other side effects which are not listed above, you should consult your physician.
